Hello Everyone!

Hey guys!
What a beautiful Bright and Sunny Sunday morning it is in San Saba!
Today I am going to share one of my Son's favorite desserts. I am going to surprise him today with it! It's a recipe from Paula Deane (I just love her)!

Georgia Candy

Ingredients

* 1 cup (2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
* 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
* 3 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
* 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
* 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Line a 13 by 9 by 2-inch pan with foil.

Combine the butter, peanut butter, sugar, and graham cracker crumbs in a food processor. Process until the mixture forms a ball. Press into the foil-lined pan using your hands or a spatula.

Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler over simmering water or in a microwave-safe glass dish in the microwave for 1 minute on high (100%). Stir. If the chocolate has not completely melted, microwave for 10 seconds more, then stir. Spread evenly over the cookie layer with a spatula. Chill for several hours.

When ready to serve, allow the candy to come to room temperature before cutting into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

What a beautiful Day in Texas!

It's pecan season here and our trees are loaded. I can't wait to start baking with all the FRESH pecans.

Pecan Bread:

2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup chopped Pecans

Sift dry ingredients together. Mix milk and egg and add to dry mixture. Mix thoroughly, but do not beat. Add pecans. Bake in greased loaf pan at 350 degrees about 1 hour or until straw comes out clean. Best kept for a day or two then sliced as thin as possible and served with butter or cream cheese. This bread can be made 3 or 4 days in advance. Also freezes well. Makes 1 loaf.

What a wonderful and beautiful Sunday!

Today my daughter has been asked by another small church in out town to lead worship. She has lead worship at our church already and I guess word got out in our small town and now has been asked to sing at another church. She is very excited and I am sure her Dad and I will be a little teary when we hear her sing. Memorial Day!

Memorial Day Pictures, Images and Photos

Each year, Americans remember those brave-hearted souls who fought and gave their lives so that you and I would have the rights and privileges of living in a free country. Remembering is important. In fact, God instructs His people on many occasions in the Old Testament to remember from whence they came and to remember His providence. It is by the mighty hand of God that we are saved, we are protected, and we are free to live in the Land of the Brave. Never take that freedom for granted, my friend. It is a precious commodity for which the world hungers, and it is a powerful charge for you and I to protect. Please keep our country, government, and soldiers in your prayers today and everyday!
I got this through an e-mail through lwf.org ministries.
Have a wonderful Day!!! Julie

Pink Saturday !

It's PINK SATURDAY..and for my post I am sharing one of my FAVORITE PINK recipes!

I make these pink cookies a lot! They are not just for Valentines Day.
When Someone is sick or needs an extra lift I make these PINK cookies
and it's an instant SMILE!

Be sure to go by Beverly's for more great PINK posts!

These are the best cutout cookies ever, and I have tried lots of recipes!
1/2 c butter softened
1 c butter
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
a.Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg, vanilla and beat well.
b. Combine flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add creamed mixture. Mix well. Wrap and chill dough for at least 30 min before rolling.
c. On a lightly floured board, roll out 1/3 of the dough at a time. Roll to about 1/8 thickness and cut out with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven until barely firm. (less then 8 min). I under cook mine, as my family likes SOFT cookies.
Icing:
1c power sugar
1 egg white
Wilton food coloring.(just a small bit)
Mix until smooth (is like a glaze that hardens very fast)
Makes 24 cookies
HINT: Use an air bake cookie sheet (TARGET)...they make the best cookies

Have a wonderful PINK Day!

Sorry I have been away!

Sorry I have been away for a few days. Things have been busy around our house. School will be out soon and my husband has been busy farming and working cattle... so...guess what that means???

It means that I am busy making lunches and cooking supper at odd hours and sometimes delivering it to a field that could be on the other side of the county.

I have also been busy giving rides from one field to the other. Helping move farm eqipment and delivering diesel for the tractor in a large tank I pull behind by pickup. (which I feel uncomfortable pulling).

Girls...I am a total "Girly Girl".....but I would not change my life for anything!

I am so thankful that I have a hard working husband and a son that gets a chance to be side by side with his dad working and learning what hard work is all about.

Oh....one more thing! My daughters college mission group has a Blog.

Check it out if you want to know what they have been up to!

Have a beautiful Wednesday....Hugs and Kisses...Julie

Today is one of my favorite days in the
Blog World....PINK SATURDAY!

This is a picture of the chandelier in my Pink and White Kitchen!

This is a vintage PINK radio from the 1950's that I got on Ebay...It still works!

I have 2 down filled chairs that I purchased for 35.00 for the set at an Estate Sale. I didn't like the fabric..so I purchased 2 Toile slipcovers from "Stretch and Cover" slipcovers on line. I like these slipcovers because they look like they where custom made.

I am sharing my vintage pink window treatments I made for my kitchen. The fabric is from the 1940's and is very fragile. I added the trim and the ribbon that was found at Estate Sales. I am so in LOVE with vintage fabrics from the 40's and 50's. My favorite is Barkcloth!

I hope everyone has a Wonderful and Pink Saturday!

Will be gone for a few days!

Well girls ...I will be away for a couple days. Wednesday is the day I have my Lumpectomy. My husband and I are going a day early and spend the night with some relatives.

A lumpectomy is a surgical procedure to remove abnormal and sometimes cancerous tissue from the breast. Some surrounding healthy tissue also is removed to increase the likelihood that all of the cancer is removed. Lumpectomy is considered a breast-conserving surgery because its goal is to remove the abnormal tissue while saving as much of the breast as possible.

Lumpectomies are usually performed on an outpatient basis and do not require an overnight hospital stay. Recovery from lumpectomy is significantly easier than recovery from mastectomy and most women return to normal activities within a few weeks.

You girls have been my life-line....and I am asking a request....
Please pray....that his is the end of this breast issue. I do not want to have "C" ( I can't even type the word)....I won't get the results for 72 hours....which means it's going to be a long weekend! I should know something next Tuesday!
Hugs and Kisses....Julie

Junking , Antiquing & Chinese Food!

Friday I drove about 45 minuets away from where I live to this wonderful little town in the Hill Country called Llano. I went with one of my dearest friends Sandy for a day of Junking, Antiquing, and Chinese Food!

This was the first place we stopped and the most interesting ! The man that owned it was very nice. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the inside...but this was the most organized place I have ever been. He had thousands of old records and other collections.

Here is my friend Sandy checking out the treasures.
I bought several things at this place and will post them this week.

I didn't find anything here..but I should of got that white frame that is hanging by the door.
I think I may go back Tuesday and see if it's still there.

I snapped a picture of this cute Bed and Breakfast....because it was PINK!
